4/8/22 Nepal

We made it to Syrumbessi- the start of our hike on Lang Tang Valley! Not exactly the most comfortable way though. We hired someone to drive us in a Jeep for about 7 hours. And “us,” is probably not what you would imagine. It is usually just the four of us and the driver, but today was much different. Yes, we had the driver and us, but we also brought along our two porters for our trek plus our guide. That meant two people in front, three people in back, and three people in the way back. It was a little scrunched. Everyone in there was very nice though. Our guide is named Dawa, who is very caring and helpful. Our two porter’s names are Emanuel and Pemba, who are very quiet but nice. And our driver did not speak much English, but whenever Asher commented on something and smiled, the driver would smile with him. The drive also was not easy because of the literal drive. It was by far the bumpiest and out of shape road I have ever been on. And what’s better? It is the “highway” leading to China. So, our driving situation was a sardine can and we were practically being thrown off a cliff every two seconds. It is a miracle that we made it! Tonight, we are going to stay at a pretty nice hotel in the small town where the trek starts. Tomorrow, I don’t know the time, but we will go on a 7-8 mile hike to the next stop where we will spend the night. I think the plan is to walk about an hour and a half up the main road by our hotel, then branch off to the trail. I think that that is our longest day, so I am glad about that. We will see what tomorrow will bring!
first picture- This was a sweet dog that we met at the hotel in Syrumbesi who we named scruffy who was actually named Loctoo. We got plenty of puppy Luna like love.
